Payroll Associate | Clipper Wind Power | Cedar Rapids, IA
SUMMARY:
Prepares, inputs, and provides analytical payroll support.
Ensures compliance with all applicable state(s) and federal wage and
hour laws including international. Produces accurate and timely payroll
support in addition to light HR administrative duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: <
- Compile payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance
and 401(k) deductions.
- Poll electronic time clocks (EZ Labor software) and review the
downloaded information for accuracy.
- Contact various department supervisors for any missed times.
- Process bi-weekly transfer of payroll data to ADP.
- Pull many internal management reports from ReportSmith software.
- Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and
questions.
- Performs payroll/benefit-related reconciliations.
- Conducts audits of various payroll, benefits or other HR programs and
recommends any corrective action.
- Updates HR employee headcount spreadsheet and runs monthly reporting
with employee overtime and meal period penalties.
- Assists with processing of final pays.
- Assists HR Director with various research projects and/or special
projects.
- Assists with the various employee discount coupons by contacting
companies for coupons as directed by HR Director.
- Schedules conferences by reserving facilities at local hotels and/or
restaurants.
- Makes photocopies, faxes documents and performs other clerical
functions.
- Files papers and documents into appropriate employee files.
- Assists or prepares correspondence.
- Prepares new employee files.
- Processes mail.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Associate's degree (A.A) or equivalent from two-year college or
technical school or one or more years related experience and/or
training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2-3 years of ADP experience required.
- Strong knowledge of ADP Report Smith is essential.
- Solid understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws is also a must.
- Proficiency in Word and Excel.
- Clear written and verbal communications.
- Organize and write procedures in a logical/methodical manner.
- Good time management skills.
- Work well in a team environment.
- Able to maintain confidential information.
- Expert proficiency with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel;
familiarity with Microsoft Project and Access a plus; web-savvy.
- Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management and ability to
prioritize workload.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
- Consistently reports to work on time prepared to perform duties of
position.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills & high attention to
detail.
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Manage administrative responsibilities with enthusiasm and accuracy.
- Highly skilled in building and maintaining effective working
relationships with management and co-workers.
